Leaving Panama City behind you pass the Panama Canal’s famous Culebra Cut, Gamboa resort, and Chagres River before heading into the Soberania National Park.
Known for its birding (the Audubon Society’s annual bird count has spotted over 500 species in 24 hours), Soberania is full of wildlife and is a wonderful place to watch for monkeys, sloths, the Harpy eagle and more. A boat tour on the Panama canal gives us time to explore Lake Gatun’s hidden bays in search of wildlife.
Next your guided up the infamous Chagres river to visit a indigenous village, learn about the community history, art, music and dance. Then a short hike along the trails through the rainforest to learn more about the native plants and how they are used.
Start at 8am and in the late afternoon you head back towards the city and arrive at approximately 4 pm.
